Default Aviva Ironman 2009 (photography allowed?)

Does anyone know if we can go and shoot the event?

I read on the website that:

“Marathon-Photos.com” has been chosen as the official photographer of the inaugural Aviva Ironman 70.3 Singapore triathlon.

Would they still allow amateurs to go and shoot?

I want to go and shoot at the Big Splash venue.
Is anyone going?

If you shoot in public area I guess they can't stop you?

Official photographer just means they can sell more, and usually have a link on the event's website where ppl can buy their photos
