Default is Dry cabinet suppose to be air tight?

as above....if i were to switch off the humidity control unit, would the cabinet "leak" to return to room humidity after a few hrs?

cos this is wat im seeing with my new cabinet....my mom tends to switch off the power in the day while im out...then i come home its bout 80%....

Leaking is normal, but it seems to me that the leak of your unit is higher than those I have seen.

I have heard/read that some dry cabinets are pretty air-tight such that the fellow went overseas for a week or so and he turned off the power to prevent overheating of the power adpator.

After he returned the humdity is still within acceptable range.

I think it varies from brand to brand.

Mine is not so air-tight, the humdifier's LED is always ON, I had expected the humdifier to TURN OFF once the correct humdity is achieved and only Turned ON when it has been opened.
However it has always been ON even when the humdity is achieved.
