Default need advise for a noob

Hi everyone,

i have a few questions. i own Canon 10-22mm lens but i don't shoot landscape very often. should i still keep that lens?
also thinking to replace my kit lens with tamron 17-50mm or 28-75mm f2.8. i intend to shoot event, portrait and street. these 2 lens suit my needs?

thanks

17-50/2.8 is a good lens for event and street. for portrait you will do better with primes like 85mm. for the time being, keep the 10-22 since you already have it. wouldn't advise 28-75 because it's not wide enough if you use DX format. for full frame it's okay.

i'm planning to clear my 10-22mm lens. so i can buy 17-50mm and other accessories instead of keeping not very use lens.
haha .. i don't know whether it is a bad idea

if still doubt, then sell it and get 17-55mm 2.8 instead!

10-22 has it's uses and can co-exist with a 17-50/2.8. the final choice is yours. for me i'd keep it first. if after two or three months and i find that i don't need the 10-22 than i'd let it go.

After selling the 10-22mm, you might be able to get a 17-50 and 85 f1.8 (both second hand). Worth considering.

Yes... having a f2.8 lens is always a good idea. Now which would depend on your usage. Are you more of a sniper or a wide angle user....

Choose

i'm not a wide angle user. i seldom shoot wide angle. i intend to shoot more on event and portrait. that's why considering to let my wide angle lens go.
now is economy downturn and i have tight budget.
i can buy f2.8 lens after i sell my 10-22.

If really need to convince yourself, rent the lens you shortlisted, then take it out and try for a day or two.

well if you're certain about sticking to events and portrait, and are sure you won't suddenly wanna switch to landscapes, then sell it off to fund the lenses u want. i doubt you use the 10-22 in events, and i dun see a point for you to keep hanging on and consider, and result in you missing some good event shots in the near future.

the combination of 17-50mm f2.8 and EF-S 55-250mm could be a good choice?
