Doctors diagnosed that he had AIDS. His parents couldn't believe it..Then
the entire family under went a checkup...
None of them suffered from Aids.
So the doctors checked again with the boy if
He had eaten out...The boy said 'yes'. He had pineapple that evening.
immediately a group from the hospital went to the pineapple vendor to check.
They found the pineapple seller had a cut on his finger while cutting the
pineapple; his blood had spread into the fruit.
When they had his blood checked...the guy was suffering from AIDS...but he

Err, *beep* mei mei, i think this is urban legend wor...

    1) i dun think its possible to track back 15 days to source of infection.
    2) i dun think the virus can manifest so fast in 15 days
    3) i think iirc, the virus will die in contact with air.

cannot blindly follow forwarded email ok? must learn to verify source hor...

simple rule, if its reported in news, there will be date of report, publisher, etc... and definitely no 3rd party talk...
The above email is sent last year to a 9 year old kid hor... hence the language...

IIRC, there is a 3-month wait period before one can be tested HIV positive after infection. So definitely not from the pineapple.

But whether or not it can be transmitted from blood on fruit to open wound in mouth is quite debatable.. Hopefully some doctor can shed some light on this.

If the pineapple was wearing a condom all of this could have been prevented.

ahh add on... so my point 3 wrong... must correct...

Air does not "kill" HIV, but exposure to air dries the fluid that contains the virus, and that will destroy or break up much of the virus very quickly. The CDC reports that drying HIV reduces viral amount by 90-99% within several hours.
It should be noted that HIV can survive for several days in the small amount of blood that remains in a needle after use, because the blood is trapped where air cannot dry it out. As a result, used needles are very risky for HIV transmission; they provide a direct path into the bloodstream. Ideally, used needles should never be reused, but if they are, they should always be cleaned with bleach or alcohol before re-use. See the section on Injection Drug Risk Reduction for additional information on this subject.

So technically speaking.. if blood that contains the HIV virus on the pineapple is not dry, it could still transmit to to someone who has an open wound in the mouth and eats the pineapple?

maybe... but then again, there is also other properties in pineapples that kills the virus.

next, HIV virus manifest not 'as fast as' u think... and by your kinda transmission like HIV man - pineapple - u... i think the probability makes you either darn lucky that you can get TOTO or so darn suay, anything u eat u also dio sick.

It would have to have JUST fallen (still been fresh and warm) and then contacted the boy on a very raw, open wound on the lips.

Now, are you telling me that you wouldn't notice red blood all over your pineapple?

Plus, you don't "fall sick" 15 days after contracting HIV. It takes 3 months for you to be even testable.

Very extreme possibility, and only if you enjoy very obvious fresh blood on your pineapple.

But the whole email is obviously one huge, and very badly written, prank.

    this is a prank lah.

AIDs virus wont survive inside pineapple. what a joke.

If this is true, then the raw fish and vegetables and the goldfish at home can spread AIDs too.

Imagine a gold fish bite you and you get AIDs, tell that to the doctor and see if he laugh out real loud with his index finger poking on your nose!
