Great view. A pity that the buildings are slanted. Any reason?

noted!

Thanks for pointing out! I believe it's due to the angle the scene was taken.

Where was the picture taken? if a wider lens was used, the flyer would show-up in the right side of the picture.

Nice shot! Care to share the location?

just to throw in some alternative perspective =)

anw i think the slanting kinds of add some dynamism to the photo, cos of the whole land seemingly pointing to the bottom right corner of the picture due to the curve and shape of the area. the slant makes you feel its pseudo movement/instability. perhaps he may be influenced by and hence subconsciously emphasised the curve on the bottome right. but this 'instability' is quite an adequate response to our fast-forwarding city.

again, we see that photo preferences are subjective, one man's meat may be another man's poison, but all the opinions are equally valid. perhaps horizons don't always have to be horizontal, despite the obvious word linkage... hmm.

what do you all think?

opinions are opinions, you are of course entitled to it, but writing a story just to cover up a flaw seems like a waste of time to me. of course if you wish to insist that "what if" threadstarter meant it this way, then i say, the idea of instability isn't quite there, it is weak, so he should do something else.

most scenics/architectural emphasize a tilted horizon because most people look at the horizon with a level head, and it is the horizon, horizontal for a particular reason. if there is a reason for tilt, and it works for majority who view it, fine and dandy. if there is a reason for tilt, and it works for a certain crowd, then perhaps it is best to show it to that crowd only. if there is a reason for tilt, and it works only for you, then maybe it is the best way to be happy by storing it on your hard drive and never posting it, since the comments will make one unhappy.

cheers.

could it be the case of not enough distortion, so ended up not here not there, in the middle of nowhere?

i did added more distortion to this photo, wanted to create fish eye lens effect, but due to my poor editing skill, only manage to do this.

hi ts, pls let me know if u want me to remove this.
stated in the gallery this is shot by you.

Hi Dennis, thanks for creating the fish eye effect. You can leave it in your gallery with proper reference will do.

Thank you for all your comments. I do realise the distortion at 24mm especially at the edge which is more obvious, and partly the angle from where the picture is taken is also another factor.

The picture was taken from UOB Plaza not OCBC. The view is fantastic, I can also see Fort Canning, the whole stretch of pubs at Boat Quay, Central etc... will share more pictures next time.

Many thanks for the feedbacks.
