Default Which copier machine your company use?

Our company plan to change the copier machine from Canon brand to other brand.
    Now looking at Konica Minolta.
Any feedback on that machine, or if your company have other machine, that you think is better
I referring to 4 in 1 machine, such as Copy, Print, Fax, and Scan.

    Canon 4 in 1.

Has other add-on features like hole punching and stapling.

I am a secretary and I would say Canon is very user friendly. I won't recommend the Konica.

Let me check and get back to you after lunch. There are a few different models in the office.

But I know that IRC3380 is one of the models that we use.

May I ask, what is the reason for switching??

Becoz different brands have their pros & cons, abit hard to comment if dunno what is important to u.

    Yup, you're right.

If armadillo is looking for better coloured printouts, Canon may not be the best. Canon copiers are good when used as an office machine esp bulk printing and heavy usage.

Ok, few reasons (our machine 2 years old):
    1. Seem the cost more ex for canon.
    2. When scanning if paper jam, need to rescan the whole stack of docs
    3. Color print not so good

You can call up the different companies and ask the salesperson will call on you to show you what the different models of copiers can achieve.

When my previous company wanted to get a new copier, we had both Xerox and Ricoh trying to close the deal on us. I can say that the higher end of the Xerox machine does produce quality colour printouts. Different models of the same brand produce different quality printout, so do look around before you decide.

Erm ok, muz clarify abit.... I used to come from the industry...

Yes, Canon & Xerox are indeed more expensive than their competitors. But what I can say is u r paying for quality. Minolta, sharp, toshiba and etc, trust me, dun expect them to produce as good quality printouts than their competitors. Sharp n toshiba are targeting basically photocopying shops where low cost is the key. Minolta is a good mix between price n quality for small businesses.

Canon is very strong in their B&W, Xerox on the other hand is very strong in their colour segment. But Canon is catching up very quickly on the colour segment. Ricoh is oso coming up strong.

As for the two machines u r using, I believe they are not engineered for excellent colour reproduction capabilities.

If u really would like excellent colour printouts, try their C1+, IIRC, its abt 40k or more. But its colour printouts are seriously good. Juz abit short of offset quality. Even in the industry, unless u r very experience, it could be a little tricky to tell the diff....

If budget constraint, try the IRC6880I or IRC5870I, its meant more as a high end colour machine.

Whole stack! Woah, usually your whole stack is how thick? BTW, by scanning u mean scan then email to ur email acc right?

But 2 years old machine.... U finish financing already or not? If haven might be a little expensive to make the switch....

    Hi evo-lution,
Great to know u r from that industry.
Also thanks for your great explanation.
Actually we've using canon for the past 14 years

Currently market not so good, so company plan to cut some cost.
Yes scan to email. (normally around 10 to 40 pages).

Konica already give me the quotation, for the same range of machine with Canon, we can save more few $K in 1 year.

My company swears by FX .... maybe because of those free lunches at hotel roadshows

For 4 in 1, B&W, admin use, we have the DCII - 2005 (low end)

For our colour prints, we use 3 machines ...
    C6550I (High volume, fast)
    1256 GA (High quality)
    1250 (Reliable quality)
these color machines, together with the Fiery servers, will each cost you at least $50k (my estimate) each ...
    always the Light, .... always.

Yes, i agree. Alot of cost savings indeed. But high chance, there will be a compromise on quality, especially colour.

To be frank, globally, copier manufacturers have been introducing alot of these entry level colour copiers to cater for the demand, the demand for colour copiers at low cost. Hence there is all these problems now...

As for the scanning, I think is industry standard.... Once jam muz rescan everything....

BTW, as for the fiery severs which canonised mentioned, they should cost abt 30k each...

"xerox" was included in Webster dict. long ago. They were the 1 who introduced photocopying on a massive scale and naturally the trade mark became an everyday word.

Heard that Fuji Xerox is the unofficial standard in the legal and banking industry.

Engineers seems to like Xerox and OCE because of the near 100% reproduction. Others seems to produce a 99 or 98% reproduction.

Copying centers like Ricoh, Sharp and Konica Minolta because of the cost effectiveness.

Anyway, above r just some market perceptions, which maybe partially true/wrong.

Luckily, there r differences, so we can choose the one that suits us best.

1 thing I noticed, copiers r like aeroplanes - need alot of maintenance. Luckily, not like helicopters - need even more maintenance.

Actually, alot of these maintenance can be avoided. More than often, it is not the machine's fault, but the user's fault. From the way paper is loaded to the way paper jams are cleared determines how often u need to call in the technician.

I shall share one tip here. No matter what, when clearing paper jams, make sure the paper comes out in one piece(no matter how troublesome/slow the whole process is). Failure to do so.... Good luck! And, yes, certain brands are more prone to paper jams coming out in more than one piece. But I cannot share the brand/brands here....

But of course, can't entirely blame the users as they may not be properly educated on this aspect or that no one told them anything at all during the purchase... A friendly chat to the technicians usually reveals more than u ever need to know on the proper usage of these machines.
