There are many third party wide conversion lenses with conversion 0.5X or lower, while the original manufacturers usually come with conversion of 0.7x or higher. One might be tempted to go for this 0.5x conversion and the price is usually much much cheaper. A word of caution, the cheaper one with a wider conversion is typically of poorer quality, resulting in unacceptable colour fringing ( bluish fringing ), so recommend to get the more expensive original manufacturer ones. If you have spent more than a thousand dollars for a camcorder, I am sure you would not mind spending over $200 to get a quality conversion lense, rather than those cheap $ 50 conversion lense.
