Hi,
I have a problem with my transcend 512MB x45 CF card which I bought from Eastgear. It works fine in my cameras, but when I insert it into my USB card reader, my reader is unable to read the card ! The reader can read my other Sandisk CF card and my IBM microdrive, but it just can't read the transcend ! So I try it on my XSDrive. Guess what ? The XSDrive also cannot read the transcend ! Needless to say, the XSDrive can read the IBM MD and the Sandisk just fine. If I try a few times, sometimes the XSDrive can detect the Transcend, but it does not see it correctly, meaning that some folders that are in the CF card do not show up. If I try to format the Transcend, Windows formats it but at the end of the format displays a "Windows cannot complete format" error ! Strangely, my cameras can format it just fine. Sheesh... what do I do now ? I need the XSDrive to read the Transcend because I'm using it for a trip very soon ! Any one has any experience with this ? Thanks. |

Why do you bring it back to EastGear, and check with them what they can do...

Also do check that you have updated firmware for the X-drive.

Hi,
You may not have formatted it correctly the first time round. You should format the card under FAT or FAT16. Thanks and regards, Daniel EastGear.com

I'd recommend you to bring it back and tell them the problem, maybe get a replacement (This may not solve your problem as it may not be the card. But it sure does set your heart at ease to some extent) its the easiest way out. But if you do have time and want to quarantine the problem I would: -Ask, "Does your drive support your card?" (Check for known issues) -Find someone else using the same drive and pop your card in. Results will tell you if its your card or the drive. -Find someone else who uses the came CF card and pop it in your drive. Results will again tell you if its your card or your drive. -If its your drive, try cleaning it with a CF cleaning kit, since youur camera is more sensitive, it will be able to read the card easier than the reader. -If it's your card, try cleaning it first with a cleaning kit. I'm quite inquisitive, So i'll prob choose to go through the trouble. Hope it helps. |
