use a longer lens from a distance..

    or

Do like some people said, be like a stalker.. be warned u might be get whacked.. remember the news? someone kena whacked coz he was taking someone's gf photos.. Dun be mistaken for that kind of person..

    or

bring ur camera wherever you go, and once ur frens get used to u having a camera everywhere u go, its makes it much easier to take photos of then being in a relaxed position..

coz today, my fren ask me, "do u take ur camera everywhere u go?"

And i said, "mini project, 365 days, 1 shot a day"

then they will go like, "ooh.."

and they will get the idea, and they will be relaxed whenever u are arnd with a camera as u already told them why u bring a camera arnd..
EOS 30D+50mm MKII+18-55mm IS.. What I use do not define me.. Its the photos that I take that will..

Share your best photos with your friends when you can. There is a level of trust to build for them to know that you will not be putting them in an unflattering light.

Yah but if u're caught, u'll be really in deep trouble if the person is very particular.

Shooting from waist level with a pop out LCD or angle viewfinder etc might help reduce chances of eye contact alerting your subject. According to experts people tend to get spooked even when they can't see who is staring at them. It like some animal defense mechanism.

    Actually...

Just tell them outright. Don't pose
