    Default is 70-200mm f2.8 suitable for macro?

    hey guys i juz bought this lens.. is it suitable to use it for macro with close up filter?

    Its better to get a dedicated macro lens due to magnification rate and min focusing distance

    You can use a good quality close up filter on the 70-200mm to allow closer focusing. I used to slap a Canon 500D onto mine. But a dedicated macro lens will give the better IQ.

    the canon 500D is good, but expensive...
    you might be better off buying a dedicated macro lens...

    Yea, and I have to have two of them before I finally am convinced to get a dedicated macro.

    But convenient la. For the occassional macro that you like to take when u r on holidays, a filter can come handy.
