if someone wants to break in to your house, there is little you can do to stop
you can only make it more difficult

eg, why break the lock when you can just remove the whole gate

Very true. 16+ years ago, my house(not in Singapore) got broke in. All locks intact but the gate, door etc all damaged. Almost everything in the houde gone including low value items like alarm clock.

    NOTICE TO ALL!

    I've BAD NEWS..

I have been using this lock for ard 5 years, but recently heard from a friend that it can be opened easily with just a simple knock on the
    METAL ROD SEGMENT!

I tried it at home, hit it with the handle of a Screw driver and the MY LOCK SPRINGS OPEN! OMG! And I only took 1 second to do that...faster than pulling out my key from my key pouch..

As my friend mention that it's due to spring lock mechanism design that's why it'll spring open upon impact..

So if your family are on a vacation, better put on a spare lock to protect your valuables like your Lenses!
I'm looking at a different perpective of life.

Using it for 9th years liao....I like it because :

    1. Low maintenance-so far no oiling required, never encounter jamming etc

    2. It's convenient - the key holes are both inside and outsite....no need to bend your hand like old pad lock, also if ah long seal your key hole with super glue....you still can access from the other one To lock the gate, just one push, to open just one turn.

    3. The key is cool - high tech key looks like car key, more durable imo with smooth edges.

The only draw back so far is it's more expensive than normal lock, the key also expensive to duplicate and not all gate can fit.

i had a brass version of this lock type which i eventually sawed off cuz when it was installed they kinda made it a little permanent, they hammered two bolts into one side to secure the whole thing.

and as to why i removed the lock, was it wasnt really good, i was waiting for someone to come, and being bored decided to play with the lock, and it sprang open with a tug of the bolt at the knobbed side

i was like and eventually got a yale (which isnt really good either, i.e. if the bolt is not fully pressed in, still can turn the key to "lock", not secure so have to be careful).

my preference now is still abloy, but its quite overkill (and hard to dupe the keys)
    pedantic.

If you know, the design had since improved. Last time the locking pin was tapered hence even when lock you just need a small "knock" and it will spring out.

New model are straight slot type, for you to find out.

They probably indicate a Duro MK II at the corner.

Yea yea yea, I saw the MKII. But the DURO logo is somehow gone.... How it reads Canon MKII...

Can someone enlighten me how my lock change brand by itself?
