Default CS backpacks, camera bags etc discussion thread

We have a good following of hikers, bikers and shooters, so this thread will help fellow members discuss their fav bags, where to buy and tips on using & maintaining their bags!

My current latest pack is from my fav hiking brand - Osprey
This is the Atmos / Aura series of ligher packs - the 65l meant for a weekend jaunt.

Will be using this at Milford Sound soon!

Great fit, carries 10 kg for long distances with good comfort.

Got mine off www.rei.com during their 20% off sale on the runout models, so it cost me USD 120.

Are you going for a hike at Milford Sound ? 65 litre is huge.

    Actually not really
its a 5 day hike, and temperatures drop to close to 0 in mid April
Its not easy carrying 10kg about, but even with my ultra light pack it will be interesting.

Anyway I have hiked from Denver to LA before (took a van in the desert, so I did not walk all the way)

For those looking for packs, www.rei.com www.campmor.com are good places to buy.

The Osprey packs are really excellant in fit and allow you to carry in comfort. Deuter has the brand name, but look at REI bags, Gregory, and Golite too

Actually Macpac is also quite good. Tried it once very comfortable and good water resistance.

Weather there goes down to 6 C
You will need 4 season gear for a hike there..

Just kayaked in a fjord, walked on glaciers and hiked 55km with 12kg in my pack through rain, hail and snow, plus a helivac to get out of flood waters in the Milford Trek, with the raincover (extra cost) my pack was dry despite constant rain.

    Kudos to Osprey.
