I would wait for Sony HX1 to be out, its gonna be much better than H50, otherwise, if you are in a rush, H50 is a very good camera. I myself own a H9 before, which was the top prosumer of Sony until H50 comes out, and I can say its very good already.

Its not out yet, so nobody knows the actual price. It should be out later this year.
But looking at its specifications, it uses a "Exmor" CMOS sensor, which is much better than H50's CCD It also has 20x zoom with a "G" Lens, which is professional grade Sony lens. It uses real mechanical shutter instead of electronic shutter on H50. From what i see from the specifications, it could worth the wait. |

My mom bought one. Played with it a while ago. Stablization seems to work well. Image quality is so-so at 100% and the colors are over-saturated.
31mm eqv. isn't exactly wide but sufficient most of the time. AF speed is reasonably fast in good light at wide-to-medium tele settings. The LCD can be tilted but EVF isn't as usable as it can be because of the size. Handles well but the menu can be vastly improved. |
