I think we have seen our friends [teebs] posting, he use a 99 cents bowl as filter on his S3is and has acheived wonderful results especially for macro.(No more shadow).
After seeing, I regret of buying the ringflash. See..... I copy his idea on my 100mm lens and Wow !!!! shadow gone. Thanx to teebs. #1 The setup ![]() #2 Taken without using the bowl filter ![]() #3 Taken using the bowl filter ![]() #4 Taken without using the bowl filter ![]() #5 Taken using the bowl filter ![]() All for 99 cents.

Yes.... use the built in flash. do not need to carry the 430 or 580 STONE weight around, suggest bring one more spare batt that's all.
Thanx

Wahhh...Everyone copy my idea now leh...
![]() But, now I have an improved version of the bowl flash diffuser.... ![]() It allows more light to get through, more even lighting for macro shots and better control over the flash power... ![]() My tests at home using the new and old bowl diffuser shows an improvement in the new diffuser... ![]() Now just need to find time to test it out for macro shots... ![]() |

You may like to refer to my original thread where I explain briefly how this diffuser actually works.

Further explore, I found something flat, easy to carry around. This is good for DSLR like 100mm, 180mm Macro lens. I can't eliminate all the shadow like RingFlash BUt it good enough to SHARE for those like to try on closeup and Macro shooting.
BUT for S3 S5 alike, suggest you use {teebs} : http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=475838 See this, I got this poly tray from NTUC untie when I buy thing from fresh store. Shoot without tray ![]() Shoot with tray ![]() SET up ![]() ![]()

I think you can get it from NTUC or any supermarket also when u buy the packed fruits...
![]() Now u gave me an idea to do another diffuser using this tray for taking JS pics... ![]() Some slight modifications required to get less attenuation of the flash... ![]() |

the colors like look abit faded...or is it just my untrained eye?

Colors looking faded is probably due to Stan not doing any PP on the pics. ![]() |
