that lens i guess is very good and compact for travelling and outdoors...

if wedding...hmmm...a risk of underexposed or slow focus.
unless the wedding is in places like sentosa beach?

you've got pretty good angles for your shot.
a lil improvement to make i guess is WB and exposure.

My 2nd try will be next month at the ballroom... base on the photos above, can you guys advice me on what equipment to get, to improve the shots? eg lens (budget $600 - $800), speedlite... or any other stuffs, angle, etc..etc..etc

    thanks in advance
Bro, most of your shots are underexposed. Do check your white balance as skin tone is off in most of the shots. But on the whole, composition is nice. Style can be further refined.

Rgding lens, since you have a budget of $600-$800, why not get the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8? Good for indoor/low-light shooting conditions. You can remain discreet, zoom in/out to capture expressions. Pair it with your 50mm f/1.8 (for potraits). Or you can use just that one lens.

For flash, consider buying or renting the speedlite 430EXII. Better still, 580EXII. Can get 2nd hand too. If you intend to buy and on a budget, get a 3rd party. But not so user-friendly/friendly with the camera (personal experience).

    All the best!
