The battery grip for the 5D mark II is almost double the price of the 50D battery grip.
How does the 5D mark II battery grip is different from the 50D batter grip? Does it really help a lot? Anyone have use this grip feel really worth getting it? Would it really improve the camera handling? |

Gunawan i cant agree more with ur statement.
4 me grip is a must have item to make e cam complete. w/o grip like missing something and i also find the grip gives better feel of the camera and can also take vertical shots easier and more stable. but i agree i also don understand y 5d2 grip is almost 2x more expensive as the BG-E2N. cos i got both and they feel the same..... :-( |

5DII's price is double of the 50D. So is the grip. But at least we get the AF-on button on BG-E6

Not sure about the $$$ but the overall geometry looks "balanced". And I must say, "MTL, buy one and you'll never regret one!"

U're not crazy. When i got my BG-E4 last year, the price was even higher than BG-E6 now.

5D and 50D are different class on its own. Price for these 2 bodies are already a big difference. Of course prices for their grips will differ a lot too. If you can afford a 5D II, why compare the pricing of the grip with a 50D one?

i used to think a grip was essential, and i had it for the 350D and 5D as well. then after shooting enough, it became more of a hassle and the weight was killing me. now i don't use the grips at all.
maybe i'm just becoming more minimalist...downsizing my equipment. haha |

I noticed that the shutter button on the BG-E6 is more sensitive than the one on camera. As in, a slight press after half-shutter and bang, it fires. Well, not as bad but definitely there's a difference.

It's the same for 5D's BG-E4 and reason being for portraitures.

The mk2's batt grip has the AF-ON and also caters for the battery serial number registration via custom settings.

Where did you get the design reasoning from? IIRC, there was never actually any explanation for the difference in shutter release sensitivity, which, IMHO, is a design flaw more than an intended inconsistency.
