How many stops ND filter did you use? Is there any waterfall to practice on in Singapore? Last edited by mrericlee; 27th February 2009 at 09:20 AM. |

Nicely done
![]() The Last Photo was the best of all I think. Yeah, all the miniature waterfalls are in Sentosa Dragon Trail. ( I saw 2) Not alot to work with but great for practice. Cheers

first of all, thanx guys for ur comments
.i think i exposed longer than 3secs, yea was using tripod in the water, water was cold! but great for blood circulation ![]() you can visit my flickr and click on "more properties" on the various pics, aperture and shutter speed varies a little. but mostly i used iso100, f5.6-f9 and 30secs. i try to use the slowest shutter speed to get the effect. and not to forget the 7stop nd filter. ![]() u're right. i think so too. didn't edit cos i want to keep it simple. btw, the last pic was underexposed. added some fill light to make it more visible. |

botanic gardens has many small streams with "water falls". that's all i can really think of, for not-so-exotic locations.

![]() ok, what i did was i set my mode to M. then set it at 30secs, and used f5.6-f9 with respect to my cam's meter. whn i say 7 stops here, i meant i am using 7 stop nd(neutral-density) filters. nd filters let you slow down ur shutter speed without sacrificing exposure. you can google it for more detailed explanation . n thanx for the comments. |

Calculating this backwards, a 30 second exposure with a ND7 filter = 30 / 128 = about 1/4 second exposure without the filter. If aperture is f/5.6-f/9, it's definitely not very bright there when the shots are taken. My favorite is the last one. Very nicely executed. Last edited by lennyl; 4th March 2009 at 02:50 PM. |
