Hi guys, I've got a question regarding the Powershot S5. Can it be connected to a laptop to shoot video, and have the data recorded only in the laptop's harddrive?
The reason why I'm asking this out of the blue is that I have a concert photoshoot coming up this saturday (as many of you might've known after my past 2 threads), and I'm trying to invite my S5-wielding friend to do simple videography for me while I shoot. He has only 4gb of memory, and that won't last him the whole concert. The band should be able to provide for him a laptop, so we can either shoot tethered, or shoot a 2GB card, slot the card into the notebook and do a transfer, while shooting on his other 2GB card. Any comments? Cheers, Zexun

Are u referring to S5IS? You may want to check on the max video clip file size. My S3IS, even if you use a 2G card, if I not wrong, the recording stops when your file size reaches 1G. If S5IS is the same and you want to consider your 2nd option, you will have interruptions every 1G and not every 2G. I would advise that if you can, find someone that has a proper videocam. Even if you don't mind the interruptions in your video recording, the fella manning the cam will be very stressed staring at the cam trying to catch the moment the recording stops so that he/she can restart the recording or change cards.
