Hi, I'm new to photo shoots, However feel like joining one of the shoots, organised by clubsnappers in the photoshoot section. What would be a recommended lens to use? what other things should i be taking notes? accessories? filters?

Depends on what type of shoot. For beach, you may opt for UV filters, ND filters, etc to block out some sun, however you can also shoot straight, if you get the settings right.
Usually for portraits, you can use prime lens, as it gives you more bokeh, such as 35mm (my fav) 50mm, 85mm, 135mm, etc. Start with a cheap one such as 50mm f1.8 or with a mid range 50mm f1.4 depending on your budget. The 50/85mm f1.2 is not really neccessary, as f1.2 is a little shallow but still usable, get it if you've a fat wallet.

Otherwise the lens stated on your profile will do just nicely. Zoom or prime, it depends on your liking and style. You'll just need a flash (internal or external will do). That's all really... rest is up to how your settings, it's v important to achieve a certain effect.

Cool! thanks for the reply, however My current lens don't really produce nice bokeh, and it isn't very sharp. So might wanna consider some other lens.. I'l thinking of prime too, if not does 24-105 or 24-70 2.8L works too?

Many portrait photographers swear by the trusty 24-70 2.8L, it's a good buy. Otherwise primes is a sure bet. Especially the legendary f2 135L

You won't know until you go. But first of all you should know all about your current equipment. No point asking what to bring if you can't verify the answers or have no clue what the effects will be or when to use certain equipments. And again, this needs practicing (shooting).
Just go and shoot, see what comes out. Ask other people why they use certain equipment - then compare whether you need it or not. Equipment without purpose is paperweight. The advice "use UV" doesn't help as long as you don't know the reason behind. (I would not recommend a UV, I have my reasons.) Keep in mind: the organizer is just there to get people together at a certain location, the rest is up to you. If you need a teacher you better check for the photography beginners courses.
