Would you share your technique for #2? Its very mesmerizing. The building looks so near yet so far.

your IR is back. #3 is my fav, #1 is 2nd. cannot detect the slant. #2 and #4 has a bit of halo? or is it? something along the outline but not sure. could be due to the IR post processing?

sjackal - not much technique there, just layered two exposures, one exposing for the lion details (else it would have been in shadow); one exposing for the national gallery (building in distance), and then erasing duly to reveal the details of the lion. i'm not sure what you mean, but that's what i did there.

emlee - thanks. might be due to aggressive burning done for #4, but #2 had no burning done, perhaps compression, but i'm not sure.

Its something about the sharpness or DOF. From a viewer's point of view, the lion is right in front of my face, sharp, the building is supposed to be a distance back but it pops right into the picture's foreground with detailed sharpness, plus the painterly feel of the setia sky, somehow its mesmerizing.

Did you change the point of focus? The DOF seems greater than f/8 at 43mm. Or is it 21mm for four thirds?

yes, i did change the point of focus. the layer with the lion details was focused on the lion, and the layer with everything else was focused on the background.
