![]() I saw this scene as I was walking around with a rented camera. The father was actually pointing at something, but wasn't fast enough to capture it. maybe you could have taken it from another angle?? becauase singling out the people in that way with a de-saturated background looks kind of weird.

I think there are too many distracting elements in the scene you are trying to portrayed.
Cropping away the buildings and the bridge would had made the composition stronger. The stone bench would had anchored the photo nicely if you had adopted a square crop.
