Default Canon EOS 30D Essential Check List

Hi all,

I just gotten myself a used Canon EOS 30D.
As im new to the arena of DSLRs, what are the things i should take note and how do i go about doing it?
things like back focus, hot pixel and others that im not aware on a used body.

Many thanks in advance.

ok buy already dun think so much... firstly how old is the camera, n how many shutter actuations ? One simple way to check (but not foolproof ) is to see the file numbering if the person never reset.. but @ least u know the min number of shots taken since the last reset.

for ease of mind, send into CSC let them do a quick check. Some of the 30Ds have premature shutter failures, so that could be worth checking out on. Focusing issues, some ppl would ask u do lab-quality tests, or stick newspapers on wall and check focusing, but i think better to just go out and shoot

focusing problems are largely lens-related, not body-related.

Since you have already brought it, just go and and shoot. One thing you can do is to send to CSC for sensor cleaning and maybe clean the focusing screen too.

If this is true, why is AF micro adjustment incorporated into the newer bodies such as 1D3, 5D2, 50D? If this is true, why is it necessary to leave the body with the service centre when sending a lens for calibration?
