Default Waveform monitoring software

Hi Expert there

Could I ask if there's any waveform monitoring software available in the market at reasonable cost? If there is, which would be the good one to purchase, download and use?

I know there are good waveform monitor systems, but their prices are rather prohibitive. I'm think that if there such software that can be installed in Notebook (Win or Macbook) that I can feed the video via Firewire and check up the levels (overall and colors), that would be good. I just need such setup for tuning and occasional studio/location setup where I can also operate my Mac. Pls advise. Thanks.

You can try Adobe Onlocation.
I use it frequently on the field to monitor and record DVCPro HD onto my macbook.

You should be able to activate the FCP's waveform & vectorscope for a rough monitoring via your capture tool. Otherwise, you can try a portable handheld waveform/vectorscope from Harris, or get a broadcast LCD monitor with waveform options.

Hi Dixon,

This is interesting, I didn't know of this possibility. However, I'm not sure how to activate that, possible to advise? If I trigger the Log and Capture in the FCP to capture the footage from the cam via firewire, can I also activate its waveform & vectorscope at the same time? Does the Log and Capture able to take in video in realtime? Thanks.

Will checkup Harris' vectorscope. Thanks.
