Default Black to Grey

I'm quite new to Photoshop. Whenever I open my workspace in CS3, it opens with a black background and I have to always change it to grey, my preferred working colour.

Is there a way to permanently set the workspace colour to Grey?

Thanks

CS3 should not have a black workspace - it should always be grey, as should all of the optional workspaces.
Possibly your monitor is showing grey as black and the colours or brightness/contrast need adjusting.
Either that or CS3 is corrupted and needs re-installing.
