I haben use it, but its good for manual strobist flash. But you are considering only 1 main flash. I suggest taking the 430ExII/580ExII instead

For the price of 250, its worth buying. Sufficiently powerful, quite consistent.

Mine's a canon for indoor use- events, etc. I take charity events. Need a flash preferably can panning one. but canon's pricing way off, no way i'm paying for those. Nissin seem to have a better pricing, but am looking out for cheaper alternatives.

Nissin will be be able to 100% to be on target everytime. How often do you take indoor charity events? once a month or... If often, then adviseable to get a Canon flash with Power pack. I'm not trying to promote nissin flash if you are always using your flash for your paid event as every shot is important so that not to miss the precious moments and will not be able to recapture when retaking.

I am using the Nissin. Its consistent, but the contacts seem to slide off from the hotshoe (such that the contacts do not align) pretty often even though i tighten it, but its no biggie. its output is consistent enough. GN is 44 i think. its quite powerful but the downside is that its an optical slave, meaning u need to trigger it with a flash, and if u have none, then it would be ur pop up flash. Sometimes in taking a photo u might not want to have a direct frontal flash (ur pop up flash) so u have to find a way to get round it. for me i use my ezlink card to redirect my flash to the slave, but do beware of shadows.
So if ure really into strobing then, i recommend 580 EX as master as it could use ebay triggers (plus the AF assist is much more useful than the Nissin one if u wanna use it). if not the limitations may set u back. Its pretty darn cheap and useful as a slave though. Last edited by Sispecho; 6th April 2009 at 03:37 PM. |
