    Sounds alright to me..
but seems abit hard to get a good angle from below with a 50mm range..
try get a wider angle.. perhaps 17-50mm tamron or 24-70mm nikkor?
A mad, keen photographer needs to get out into the world and work and make mistakes.

    You need a Saturday lens!

Just kidding. Erm, I think any lens will do. There's enough light in the morning and f/1.4 if not a necessity unless you are trying to get an effect and blur the background. Maybe you might want ND filters to be able to use the lens wide open in strong light.

the whole point of using fast lenses is to achieve fast shutter speed.

if you want a tripod, then you probably can save the money. kit lens will still do...

Great lenses. As for the tripod, you most probably won't need it.

Well, it all DEPENDS on how far away you'll be standing from them and how you want to protray them.

A wide angle and having you near to them will stretch the perspective slightly.

A long zoom and having you much further will compress it and also give a better isolation. So, choose the effect you want.

Maybe you would wanna state what other things you'll love to shoot... cause you can't be choosing a lens just based on one type of subject eh?
