Default Using 52mm wide converter for EOS 300D

I own a G1 and a EOS 300D.
I have wide and tele converters for G1 which are of 52mm thread.
300D is 58 mm thread.
I am hoping to use use the wide converter with 300D.
Does anyone know if there are any step up or down rings (don;t know how the terminology goes) that can help to adapt the converter of 52mm to lens thread of 58mm?
How much do there costs (approx)? Thanks.

I think there should be the rings to use the 52mm with the 58mm thread but not sure if there will be any vignetting seen. I think should cost less than $10 each ? I bought a step up from 55mm to 58mm for $6.

You're in luck, coz I just tried it recently

You can buy a 58-52mm step down ring. It costs around $6 ( got mine from MSColor). The step down ring on its own does not cause any vignetting even when the lens is zoomed to 29mm

The WA converter will vignette at the 300D's widest (29mm), but vignetting goes away when you zoom in to around 22mm. At 22mm, the image is a very soft at the sides with lots of CA. At 24mm, vignetting and softness at corners are mostly gone. Since the focal length is so wide, and the 300D has 6MP for you to play with, you can safely crop away the edges and retain the sharper center portion of the image, losing less than 1MP in the process.

The convertor I tried was the 0.72 Kenko from CP, which I decided not to buy due to the CA and edge softness. I ordered a Raynox from the net instead.

hmm...then as well just use the 18-55 without any attachment?

if u need to zoom in at 24mm to avoid vignetting....u only get 24*0.72 = 17.3mm effectively

not forgetting that the image quality will be greatly reduced too

Well, even at 18mm, it is still wider than the kit lens. And as Chrizz mentioned, cropping off the edges still leaves enough of a good image. Since I already owned a WA converter (it's worth trying). Thanks.

Bought an Olympus WCON07 (55mm threaded) to try. There's no CA from my tests and vignetting goes away around 22mm (with UV filer removed) and ~24mm (with UV filter on). Quality seems good too.

However, I'll only use this when absolutley necessary. It gives me ~23mm equivalent in comparison with the ~28.8mm equivalent of the kit lens at the widest position (20% wider).

Results may differ though with the Canon one. The threadsize is not a good indication of the degree of vignetting. It depends on how close the rear element of the wide-angle converter is to the thread too.

The Fujifilm 0.79x one might fair better (cos the rear element protrudes back) but I didn't have any to try.
