Hi guys! I just bought a NovaFlex M-mount to Micro 4/3rd adaptor for my Lumix G1. The results are promising with very easy focusing.
![]() The shot below is with a 35mm Summicron ![]() I took shots with Voigtlander Nokton, Color Skopa, Leica, Heliar and Canon LTM lenses. They are on Flickr. Just click here http://www.flickr.com/photos/rogvon/...7613978343708/ |

I am using the rayqual adaptors. They really good as well. The G1 really brings out the best in the lenses ! The Voigt and FD pics are labeled on my flickr link below.

Couldn't resist the itch... went to get one this afternoon....
After a few hours playing with it... one comment... this camera is FUN! Here are a few shots with the Voigtlander Nokton 35/f1.4 S.C. Straight from the camera. No post process, no sharpening. Camera standard default setting. Shutter speed set to "A", aperture wide open. ![]() ![]() ![]() No focus shift... no these and that... Live View... focus and just SHOOT! FIRST TIME I have so much fun with a digital camera! |

Er... can I ask a dumb question. How do you focus without rangefinder? Do you get a focus confirmation in the EVF?

Have to rely on your eye to focus. No confirmation. But can zoom in to the spot u want to focus to get accurate focusing... a pretty useful feature. Personally, I find the best lens to use with the G1 is the 50mm focal length. Which is 100mm on 35mm full frame format, good for portraiture & still life. Will take some pics with the 50mm/f1.5 and post tomorrow... ![]() |

The EVF is pretty usable. Even with non-RF coupled lenses, 12/f5.6, 15/f4.5, old 25/f4 can focus on the G1.

going OT if I may: It's too early to sound the death knell for film.
I was chatting with my colleague from Tokyo who has been keeping a watch for me on the price of second hand Ricoh GR1v / s. Despite the tough economic times, the price has jumped up from about JPY350,000 to in excess of JPY450,000. Whilst this is only anecdotal evidence I think it points to revival of interest in film. My theory on this with the promotion of full frame sensors into enthusiasts, more people are beginning to re-evaluate the question of format size and the effect on the overall image rather than just the question of absolute resolution and noise. Whilst it's not a direct comparison, you can get entry into the full-frame film game for under $500... compared with more than $4000 for a FF dSLR. In these tough economic times, some people will be willing to give film a second chance. Back to the G1: I was impressed with the EVF and autofocus speed (with the kit lens), although it obviously can't compare with an SLR. I think with an M-mount adaptor, it has promise as a second body and digital M option! This is good news for Chiif. |

For the 1st time, RF shooters can buy a 12MP digital cam that cost not much more than a CV lens . That surely must be some record for entry into a M-mount system. On the crop factor, I find it changes the bokeh signature of fast lenses. I guess its due to working distances. Cos I'll be standing 2x further back for the same head and shoulder portrait, so the bokeh becomes less or change slightly. The good side is - I'm guessing the longer effective working distance makes old adapted lenses look sharper - cos we're no longer shooting so close up where performance deteriorates. I find the slight shutter lag still makes it unsuitable for capturing fleeting moments. G1 & CV 28mm 1.9 f1.9 ![]() Last edited by FortyNine; 19th February 2009 at 01:50 PM. |

Hey! I am still a down right straight film guy ok... Can I be a little promiscuous?
Let me get this straight as Mr Benny has just made some very very serious asuumptions.... ![]() The G1 + M/screw mount does open a new opportunity for the RF community... BUT... I say BUT.... wide angle on the G1 is practically useless. even with my 12mm, it doesn't look like what it was... even with the "half frame" M8 (I didn't coin that word... Mr Ken Rockwell did) the 12mm/f5.6 potential wasn't fully realised. Hence... I will still... and I repeat... I S T I L L W I L L & C O N T I N U E to shoot film.... It's just that this little toy is so fun... even with those lemon RF off alignment lenses turn into a real gem with this little chap.... Benny... pass me some of your 50f1.2 lemons...
