I took so many shots but without much success.
Spent quite a lot of time trying to control the flash. Any help would be much appreciated! I only edited 2 shots, since the subject were a little more unique, and they were extensively edited in photoshop ![]() Nikon D90 + Tamron 90mm + onboard flash + milk bottle difuser. The brown one was just camping on a branch, and yet I couldnt get a good shot of it (maybe I was too tired after 4hrs of shooting). They are both probably only around 2mm big. Last edited by TroyP; 15th February 2009 at 03:22 PM. |

#1 is a very nice capture. Enjoying your 90mm?
![]() Think I saw a couple of these today, but they were too tiny and I didn't try much as I couldn't go beyond 1:1.

As for tiny insects, depends on how small it is. Smaller than 5mm, I won't even bother using my tamron 90 to focus on it. Also DOF depends very greatly on your ISO and aperture. |

Bro it just takes practice. For lighting, u can experiment abit, vary everything u can control to see the effect and see what works best for u.
errr.. DOF depends on ISO meh? How so?

![]() Smaller Aperture (e.g. f/11) with low ISO (e.g. ISO 100) to get bigger DOF due to slower shutter speed. Smaller Aperture (e.g. f/11) with very High ISO (e.g. ISO 800) = lesser DOF as shutter speed increases. |

For me, DOF is controlled by focal length, aperture and distance to subject. ISO just helps u achieve what u want with the aperture. ![]()

![]() In the old film days, ISO is typically fixed at the point you load in your film but in the digital age, you can change the ISO at will. That was the point I was making. |
