We have all been mulled over the future of life after s5pro. Rumors of s6pro have so far been a bucket of jokes. If S5pro is indeed the last descendent of fuji DSLR series, will you continue with the S5pro or is time to move to Nikon etc..
Personally, i think a s6pro will be due not so soon but she WILL replace the s5pro. I doubt i be able to afford the s6pro if based on fuji’s tradition of pricing there NEW DSLR at sky high prices. BUT if i do go full frame, very probably switching to Canon will be the option unless fuji goes full frame, which IMHO she should!! BTW just to share, yesterday I witnessed the huge different in image quality of a camera with a crop sensor against a full frame when the photo was printed at A2 size. So with that said, i love to hear all your views on the future of fuji’s DSLR section Last edited by wheresmycheese; 15th February 2009 at 01:49 AM. |

![]() Ask yourself is your skill good enough to justify spending for a full-frame camera? How often do YOU print at A2 size? Last edited by KopiOkaya; 15th February 2009 at 01:53 AM. |

I got a shock when I drove a BMW the first time too. But, can I afford a BMW? Do I need a BMW? And is my driving skill good enough to operate a BMW?

More importantly, know what you are going to use your camera for within the next two years. Last edited by KopiOkaya; 15th February 2009 at 02:20 AM. |

things just gets better. there will come a time for things to be obsolete, including the S5 Pro. one day, competitors are gonna catch up if things don't change.
as consumers, we just see what's in the market and make buying decisions according to our needs/wants. meantime, don't think so much, just make good use of ur S5 Pro.

That's why more people have had accidents with expensive cars and sports cars. Simply because they have not mustered the basics defensive driving skill.
With DSLRs, your flaws will be emphasized even more with full-frame format. |

when i was new in photography, i bought a dslr and some L lens hopin that i can take good photos with it. but the result sucked most of the time : lighting, composition... the list goes on...
so i reverted back to my grd and practised my skill with it and i can say the results are much better now. now my wife uses the canon dslr for fun shooting and i just shoot with my grd. i hardly uses the dslr nowadays as i don think i'm ready yet. i'm no pro, just an amateur picking up photography am very very happy with the grd i using now. basic specs and nothin fanciful abt it. when i was new, i kept thinking abt buying better tools, specs and constantly watchin out for upgrades... and now with some experience, i've achieved 'enlightenment' that a tool is just a tool. it's the person that matter the most. read somewhere before... "an amateur worries abt sharpness, pro worries abt money and photographer worries abt light". it couldn't be more true, many ppl here in this forum analyze too much abt their equipments and it took the fun out of photography. of coz for the pros its a different thing as they need a good tool to make a living. i'm refering to the hobbyist and those starting out... buy a gear you comfortable with and enjoy this great hobby. my humble opinion only. just my 2 cents. kind regards ![]() |

Nice discussion here. I have tried out my friend's D3 with the 24-70mm lens for a brief moment and it is heavy. My hands shake under that weight. Surely the IQ of my picture will be affected. If you drop another 50mm lens and the highly regarded 70-200mm into your baggage, you may end up leaving all the gears inside the hotel room and go out with a G9 instead. Yes, technically there is some compromise in IQ due to cropping, but I find that it is not that noticeable (due to hands shaking holding the heavy D3 and 24-70mm/70-200mm vs S5 Pro with 16-85mm/55-200mm). I travel light with my 16-85mm lens affixed to my S5Pro, with my super light and portable 55-200mm lens and slightly heavier but worthwhile Sigma 50mm f1.4 lens in the camera bag as well. I got all angles covered (except no 500mm to shoot birds) with only a third of the weight of full frame camera plus gear! Yes, I will enjoy my S5 Pro until it draws its last breath.

How do i explain..... ok like 800x600 u print 6R you see the difference between a 3000X2000 when you print 6R as well. in this case the canon was like 11MP and the nikon 12MP so compareable. i was really comparing the d300 and the canon 5D when i said the difference between full frame and crop. i am not starting a war between nikon or canon just my humble observation between full frame and crop. Well, we are looking at the fuji's output of future DSLRs here. that comparison was something extra i brought up to share with my family here. sorry if it offended you in anyway! |
