Default Some Pics at SBG [14-02-09]

Some pics taken this morning at SBG. Went with Stanycjw.

All pics taken with Canon S3 IS + DCR250 + DIY Diffuser. My third time using the S3 + DCR250 and first time trying out my DIY diffuser. Diffuser seems to work pretty well.

Awesome shots. Very sharp, detailed, and vivid colours.
I might be going there tomorrow for the first time, hopefully I can have good luck finding similar insects!
IMO, the last shot would look better rotated 90 degrees CW.

Yup. I agree with that but didn't have time this afternoon as I was rushing out. Will post more pic later tonite.

Will rotate that pic later also...

I think you should be able to find similar insects without much problem. Juz need to look very carefully. I'll probably be going again next Sat so if you're interested, we can meet up next week.

The spider shots were actually the most difficult as the spider was on a leaf way above my head. Had to stand on a rock and stretch my hands fully upwards and then try to get the focus right. Got 2 head on shots and 1 was perfect, the other was slightly OOF. Also got 2 side views and same thing, 1 was good the other was again slightly OOF...

If those you described were the only shots you took, you have a very good hit rate!

Ya, only managed to take 4 shots of the spider before it jumped onto a higher leaf and disappeared into the tree...

Would prefer the wasp pics to be rotated 180', tried yet? Felt abit uncomfortable seeing it upside down. heh.. but may not always work tho.

For the butt, try some shots without flash (up the ISO if needed) and the eyes will look more natural. Got to notice the burnt highlights too, you could PP to reduce the "glare"

Ya, the butt shots are overexposed. But I guess it was probably due to my changing of my camera settings. bsmilie:

Rotated one of the wasp photo but doesn't seem to work...

These pics proven that yr Canon S3 IS + DCR250 + DIY Diffuser works well, very sharp and well composed.

Again, thanks for joining me this morning and yr great help to me for shooting the wasp.

Cheers!!!

Actually I think if I had the S5 IS it may be better since I would have higher resolution and a better noise control...

But as it is, I'm pretty satisfied with the S3 + DCR250 + DIY Diffuser combination. Though, I think I will have to make some modifications to the diffuser sometime next week as I need more light to be bounced off the bottom of the diffuser...

No problem about that bro. We're all here to learn and share...
