Noise in shadow areas

Facing a problem while scanning my slides in, the shadow areas always seem to have this fuzzy noise..

Something like this, pardon the dust..

Negs wise theres not much of an issue.. I'm using CanoScan 8600F and their bundled Canoscan Toolbox, would another scanning programme give better results?

Nice pic you have there. try Vuescan, it has alot more options, might just be what you need.
