haha, just something i wanna share
![]() I've been using Sanyo batteries on my SB-600 for quite a while now (2+ months). As you guys know, Sanyo eneloop batteries are 'fatter' and lightly bigger than their smaller cousins (i.e- energizer?) Today, I drained my Eneloop's dry so i switched them with a set of energizer AAs. To my surprise they didn't touch the contact points so the flash couldn't turn on! Luckily i managed to use some other eneloops i scavenged from another flash unit I suspect the 'larger' Eneloops must have pushed the contact points further apart, so they don't touch small-ish AA batteries anymore! ![]() Anyone encountered something like this before? ![]() |

Thanks for sharing,i guess if you use rechargeable battries you must use it all the time..cannot change back to normal alkaline already. Do you think energizer rechargable battries are the same size as normal alkaline?

my powerex seems to have diiferent diameter size. 1 pc seems to b bigger and hence tighter when i insert it into my compact cam.
imedion positive terminals r shorter when compared to other batteries. it cant touch 1 of the charger contact n i must insert a piece of wire to enable contact everytime when i need to recharge the battery. it is a case of 2 different products meeting the lowest end of specs and when they join up, it failed. |

there is the metal bouncy strip at the bottom of the compartment. if you can reach it without damaging anyting, try to bend it towards you, so that the batteries can have more contact. SHOULD solve the problem, haven had the time to try it though. BTW: i am using Energiser batteries all the way. NO rechargeables cos I dun use them often enough to justify it. |

seems like i nv learnt my lesson.
Last time buy sanyo all the batts went dead within weeks, i.e. no longer can be recharged back to full. This is a manufacturing fault. Then now it is bigger than normal and will cause this problem as mentioned in this thread. Really what the hell lor!! Dunno why i always listen to forumers... monkey see monkey do! Sanyo... i will not buy any batts from you anymore. I better get the higher capacity GP Recyko next time. This brand gives me peace of mind. I nv had any problem with it.

The problem is not so much with the batteries but with the flash battery cover.... that portion has a reputation of getting slightly loose

Quite interesting topic. I always use my rechargeable batts when playing with my SB600 100% of the time. I guess it's godd practice to try those normal AA ones to see if I got the same problem. Thanks for the heads-up!
