talk about rights. i tink we have no rights if no permission was given?
but then, they hv the right to ask us to delete but not the right to move hand move legs lor.

As photographers, we actually have the right to shoot anything in public which does not offend anybody's modesty or privacy.

Nope.. never gotten.. besides.. If the fellow tries to be funny, and uses his hands, i would just break his limbs for even trying.. Why? I can delete the photo if he doesnt like it, so.. why must he/she use his/her hands on me?

I believe everyone also has the same idea.. If he confronts you, show him/her the photo, delete it, move on.. But keep ur eyes on him/her while walking away.. Some people are potential cowards who whack people from behind and doesnt dare whack face to face.. I assure you..

Coz i also take for my IS (interdisciplinary studies) and i dont really like taking people's photos when forced by my lecturer.. but what to do?

Besides, they (civvies) have a right to ask u to delete and you HAVE to delete.. But they DONT have the right to push/shove/whack you.. Remember that.. Anyway, street photography isnt that easy, when they dont know what you're taking of, and accuses u of something..

So best way, and i believe everyone will agree, shoot as fast as u can (one shot or a couple of shots), walk away as per normal speed while acting like a tourist (Dont have to act like one.. Wear like one!!).. Dont linger there and keep shooting, unless u want someone to go and confront u.. coz thats a
EOS 30D+50mm MKII+18-55mm IS.. What I use do not define me.. Its the photos that I take that will..

I am not certain, but from a legal perspective, I don't think there is any law against anyone taking your photo as long as they don't harass the person, stalk the person or take indecent photos of them.

I think it boils down to bad manners and ungraciousness if the person who got photographed scolds you unless you have done something wrong. I mean, why can't they ask you nicely to delete their photo because they are not comfortable? Seriously, I don't think they have any right to tell me what I can photograph and what I can't and they certainly don't have the right to verbally abuse or harass me in public.

This reminds me of the days where gangs used to hang around town and if you look at them, they would use that as an excuse to threaten or beat you up. So uncouth and definitely thuggish. They wouldn't do that if there was a law enforcement officer around.

I suppose there are many people who makes the world go around.

I hope that it applies in Sg too.. Or else that fellow who harasses me or do anything stupid like trying to manhandle me, will most likely not able to use his/her hands anymore.. Not that i'm trying to be scary or whatever..

If you're afraid, use a lens with a long focal length and take pictures from above, below (make sure you don't catch people with skirts ) or behind.

your statement has some inherent problems - what does not offend in our (photographers') definition, may offend in the eyes of the subject - like in the case of the ang mo and his baby. I think there is a lot of grey area in the so-called public domain.
