I think the "special deal" is just the cheap freebies. You can definitely get a better deal at the shops listed in the stickies.

Curious... does this mean D700 price dropped? Cuz in Dec 2008, Nikon RRP was $4499, and street price was $3450-$3550. Now the promo state RRP $3888, does that mean street price has dropped to $3000???

I bought without even a free D700 catalogue.

For the next new available DSLR, Should we be the earliest group to support and ending up by being a revenue contributor?

Hope Nikon don't have a marketing strategy like handphones i.e. the most expensive (consumer point of view) during the launch and drop price after every other weeks with different sales packages.

That's one of the problems with Digital products.

With shorter product life cycles, early adopters have to pay a high price, literally and figuratively.

PMA 2009 is just around the corner, I won't be surprised if it drops even further.

For those who are thinking of getting the D700 and don't need it urgently, the best time is to wait for the D700x model to come out!

It must be an Asian Chinese thingee, I'm sure everyone has noticed that all the prices advertised here end with "88" or "888".
