Default Any Konica Hexar RF (black ver) users here?

A few questions I would like to ask:

1. How do you rate this camera? Is it good? Are its pictures as sharp/contrasty as many have raved about? Do you think the camera is over-rated or under-rated?

2. Where do you find these cameras in Singapore? I did not see any at the shops at PP and TCW. Haven't tried Adelphi though. How much is one (with a 50mm f/2.0 lens) anyway? I've seen some selling at approx USD1200 at ebay.

thanks!

Default tried it

actually I tried M6, M6 TTL, M7, Bessa R2, hexar RF one by one and side by side
Note that I own a hexar AF

hexar AF:
very quiet
but you cannot change the lens (although very good)
speed limited to 1/250
not a rangefinder

bessa R2 :
definitely good value for money for a RF (still expensive for what you really get)
bright viewfinder,
but very noisy (as noisy as a nikon FM ... !), schlonk sound

hexar RF :
viewfinder is x0.6 so depending on the lens you plan to have, it might be a problem
lots of good things : AE, AE lock, motor, easy loading
noisy as well (due to motor advance) but nothing to compare w/ R2

however it is discontinued, and there were info about incompatibility between the body and leica lenses at wide open/ short distances ....

konica hexanon lenses are good although not as good wide open as leica (but the price is not same)

resell value .... ???

M6, M6 TTL : don t care about the TTL, but the speed dial is bigger and you turn aperture/speed dial in the same direction as the exposure arrows

M7 : even quieter than M6, AE mode and speed in the viewfinder

Default hexar AF silent mode

not all the hexar AF models have the silent mode feature.
I once had both models and the difference is noticeable
anyway, even without it, it is really ok

leica M has a small click sound and you can advance the film whenever you want (you can delay it)

what is TCW ?

TCW is "The Camera Workshop". What I meant to ask was do the Hexar RFs have the silent mode feature? Thanks remi, you seem very knowledgeable in RFs.

Default hexar RF

It s my pleasure

No there is no special silent mode on the hexar RF.
I would rate the "noise" of the RF equivalent to the AF without the silent mode.

the small camera store in Funan have a kit (hexar RF + 50 + flash) for 3000 S$ New

Is TCW reliable/serious enough ?
