Have been thinking of doing some streets snapshot of construction workers. but not very successful because cannot go near enough as often there's barrier between us and them.

Also, you need to capture them doing a specific task. There is no focus if you capture them hanging around or if there are too many crowding around. You can also capture them having lunch because this is different from how the rest of us have lunch. I generally see them sitting around the floor eating from a packet (which is not what most of do). Ultimately, they are interesting because the tasks they perform are different from the majority of us, which is what you want to capture. And they are generally quite friendly and don't mind having their picture taken. So don't be afraid to approach them (when their supervisor is not around!)

I think having eye-contact will make the pictures stand out. Such as having one of them in a group turn to face your camera.
