Default SB600... to repair or not to repair?

Need some advise here...

It seems like the "bulb" on my SB-600 is blown or something... I checked with NSC and was quoted approximately SGD140 for this repair. Labour was like half of this amount. Is there a reliable 3rd party out there who can do similar repair albeit at a lower cost?

The other alternative was to not repair it. Sell the spoilt flash at a low price to someone who's keen to do the repair. What do you think?

Thanks in advance!

my take is get a new one or upgrade to better flash if you have the $$$.

I personally have no confidence for repaired stuff.(that is me)

Thank you bros.

Yes, even if you send it for repair at NSC for $140, it's still worth it.

Quote from moderator:

1. By changing the bulb your flash is as good as new and with 6 months warranty.

2. By buying 2nd hand a SB600 will cost you more and the most 1 week personal warranty. Furthermore, the bulb may already be near its end of life already, cos you do not know how many flashes it has done or worst still if you get a photog who like to do rapid type of flashes

There also a alternative flash like nissin DI 622 to try if you don't mind trying 3rd party.
Else the repair is worth it cos it's orginal nikon.

I am also agree to buy new once.
Electronic stuff is not easy to repair and not reliable.
Change the new once, at least have one year warrantee

Thanks for all the suggestions... will PM fatigue about the bulb. Will most probably repair it instead of buying from re-sale market. Thanks!

PS. will close thread now. Thanks!
