Interested in experimenting with film. What's a good camera and lens to start with? Cheap budget though. Under $300

a decent SLR (like the olympus om series, the canon eos, and the nikon fm series) and a 50mm lens should do the trick. to go under 300, you will have to ebay though, since the local secondhand prices are typically higher.

OMs are generally great deals.
But there are heaps of other format options, like rangefinders, scale focus etc that you could consider. Those would fit well within your budget, but the tradeoffs could include stuff like non-changable lenses and less flexibility. |

I agree with the F series... not sure if you can get lens + body under 300 though.. might be possible if you look hard enough...

FM10 will be the cheapest. You might get it for $50 to $70 if you're lucky.

Why not go for the EM instead? EM + 50mm E-series should cost less than S$150.

No. u shld go for OM4. Manual SLR comes with spot light metering. A valuable function to understand exposure.

Have a look at a 2nd hand Canon EOS 5 paired with a 50mm F1.8. The lens can be used with your digital Canon too.

Praktica/Pentax Spotmatic + SMC Takumar or any other m42 lens you favour. Though, you'd probably want the Takumars. Many reviews online say they're better than or just as good as your Carl Zeiss Jena optics.
It's hard to beat. |
