Default First Post - Myna

Hi all,

Been reading and learning from the many members here for a while. Love the nature shots, and being a relatively newbie at digital photography, I just never had the courage to post any of my pictures before.

But seeing that the seniors always advise all to take plenty and post so that we can improve from the comments given by all, I have finally perked up enough to post my first pic... Here goes (and hope it works)...

Picture taken with S5Pro and Tamron 17-270 hand-held with slight pp using photoscape.

Kindly provide C&C so that my myna (minor) step forward will lead to even better shots in the future.

Hi CCx,

Welcome to the world of nature. Nice first post. To improve on the image these are some basic things you can try.

1. Go lower, always try your best to get a eye level shot.
2. Composition wise, you might want to place the bird a bit more to the right. Leaving more space on the left as the bird is looking to the left. We normally leave some space for the bird to look in to.
3 Eye contact. In this case, eye contact is there.

Cheers.

Dear tanhb,

Thanks for your reply, and my first ever C&C.

All points are received loud and clear with thanks. I will try to follow the rules,

FYI, I took the shot while still in my car... notice that the myna was walking about in my small front garden (more like green patch) when I got home. Saw the photo opportunity, and grabbed the camera which was with me in the car, and shot through the front window, just in case he'd fly away once I stepped out of the car - which had happened before. This was the reason for the height of the shot. Myna's seemed really easily frightened for some reason... at least those that come into our house are like this. Eye contact was probably achieved because he was about to fly off after seeing/hearing me snap off a few pics.

Took some fighting myna's this morning too... but have not had the chance to download it from the CF card yet. If one of them look presentable, I will post it for more learning opportunity.

Thanks again for your comments.

Cheers
