Having been interested in the notion of being able to GeoTag my photos with co-ordinates that maps out your vacation even better than a journal, i read up extensively on GPS devices for my Nikon D80 which eventually led me to the HOLUX M-241 GPS Data Logger.
after taking the device out for a random photo-shoot, i'm pleasantly pleased with the accuracy and consistency of the results, HOLUX M-241 is probably one of the few if not the only GPS Data Logger with a LCD panel, this feature is paramount as i'm able to have a quick overview of the device's status, its current GPS time so as to facilitate in synchronization with your dSLR its also able to display your current co-ordinates. so i'm just wondering if there are any CSers out here who are interested in GeoTagging their photos too? http://www.holux.com/JCore/en/produc...nt.jsp?pno=341 |

I geo tag mine using the iphone. My pics are normally loaded into flickr so what I'll do is take a shot with the iphone, and upload that. Once that's done, I'll simply use the flickr organizer to add other pics into the same location.
This was taken with iphone http://www.flickr.com/photos/8572476...n/photostream/ This was taken with my DSLR and added to the location pinpointed by the iphone http://www.flickr.com/photos/8572476@N06/3262116337/ Last edited by toledosun; 9th February 2009 at 01:54 PM. |

would that result in more work? since you'll have to take a random shot with your iPhone before taking a shot with your dSLR every single time.... can the iPhone do GPS data logging instead?

You can use the Sony GPS CS1 too. Just need to Sync the timing of the GPS unit with your DSLR. Quite cool.

and the price is relatively high. the HOLUX M-241 works the exact same way but it has a LCD on the device and the price is lower. |

i geotag my photos too.
using a holux m1000 and paired with my mobile phone through BT. It records the nmea data and just need to sync the photos back home. best part is since using my mobile, can see the map of the location too.

I'm thinking of getting the HOLUX M-241 too.
But have 2 doubts. Would like to find out if it auto-start logging when a satellite fix is obtained. i.e.: u go into a building and come out again, does it continue to log? and Does it auto-off after some time when it couldn't aquire a signal? If so, can the auto-off be disabled? Thanks in advance.. . |

From the description.. The one in Eastgear does not seem to be able to... They don't have M-241. I am considering Qstarz Q1300 which does have that feature of manual log.

I got the Qstarz BT-Q1000X 2 weeks ago.
The fix is really fast. The MTKII chip seems better than the 1st generation. It even works under void decks, shelters in Singapore environment - In this case, long/lat position correct, but altitude a little off. Why I got it:
Disadvantages so far:
