I've read a large number of threads on DPreview, in the 300D forum stating problems with an inaccurately aligned sensor/viewfinder . Anyone with this fustrating problem ? Seems like many D rebels are affected by this. Its holding me back since I value viewfinder accuracy and quality.

nah... i dont need 100% coverage, just something accurate, or at least in the middle. Have a good read at the thread below... its a little disturbing

ok. I can't say I've seen any misalignment, but that's because I take macros and I only care about what I see in the viewfinder (95%) and I always crop after that anyway.
the concern of the misalignment is where the other 5% is distributed. as long as the image you see in the viewfinder is in the image captured (ie: you don't lose pixels off the sides) I'm sure you can get some software to do a permanent crop to your exact specifications so that your images are what you see on the viewfinder. as for the FEC problem, I'm too newbie to know it. if anyone wants to test my 300d for the FEC and misalignment. feel free to pm. heh. as for focus problems, I don't think I've seen any. besides, you can test the unit before you buy it. seems like there are some perfectly aligned ones with no autofocus problems . I'm not sure the FEC thing is on all 300d's, but can't you just tweak up the exposure settings then.. --- |

but no one gteed that it has to be centred?
hmm my old eos50e had misalignment as well, as was my test 300D, but u can't complain becos it's not touted as 100% accurate anyway (or accurately displaced), unlike bad AF. at least that's my opinion. has anyone complained about this on the 10D, whose bugbear was AF displacement? anyway FEC is not on the cam, the diff between FEC and normal EV is that the subject getting flashed vs the lighting ratio of the background can be different for FEC. normal EV just darkens the whole shot macam TV.

ok: the only guarantee is that 95% of the captured area is viewable in the viewfinder.
canon aligns it towards bottom right. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloa...jsp?ftpID=1536 if you're using adobe photoshop, I'm sure you can javascript/vbscript (or get someone to do so for you) an autocrop towards your custom viewfinder/image crop area. |
