Shooting in a very dim lighting forested environment posed a real challenge to every bird photographers. I am lucky to be greeted by these rare beautiful little forest gems. Here are some record shots to share, enjoy

Newguy69,
Are you using a diffuser of any type, or direct flash? Kingfisher colours are beautiful... any pp? Babbler shots are sharp ... nice. Are you using any sort of hide?

Thanks strobby. The BBFK was pretty far away and due to its small size (actually it is smaller than common kingfisher), so have to shoot @500mm + 1.4x TC to get a decent size image. I cropped quite alot.

I must say I am really impressed with your work. Can I join you one day to learn from you?
I just bought a 400mm f5.6L and with TC 1.4xII. Is the extender a must? Cost? Thanks Newguy69. Raymond.

![]() Thats a fine set of gears for birding you have there. Ok, an extender is to help to max the output of the flash to reach a further distance normally a flash without extender can't reach. The purpose is to enchance catchlight to your subjects and also acts as a fill-in. A set of extender cost around S$70. You can buy it from TCW, CP and any reputable camera retailers.
