Default EF 28-105 f3.5-4.5 II USM or EF 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM

Hi All,

Any comments on the above two lens; especialy about price/performance comparison...

Is it worth spending the extra $$$ on the extra 30mm(135 minus 105), and does IS really help at 135mm(I thought IS will be more effective around or above 200mm)...

One more thing: I'm thinking of getting a 300D before Christmas.. Is it worth getting the original lens kit + the extra lens(one of the above two), or I can let go the kit lens? Is the 18mm much wider than 28mm on the other lens....

Thanx

Default 105 or 135

well, that extra 30mm + IS will cost you an additional $350+++.

Best piece of advice is get the 105mm second hand and then decide if you really need that extra 30mm after shooting for a while.

I may sell mine around christmas time cos of upgrading to a "L" lens. Let me know if you are interested so that I can put you on the priority list.

FYI, warranty card not filled, lens a month old as of now

I'm currently using a 'prosumer' camera with effective 35-216mm, and am kinda happy with the 216mm. I believe I should be able to get the same zoom with the 135mm(*1.6=216), but I believe that I may need to get a longer lens in the long run.....

My concern is: How's the optics on the 28-105?? Do u guys find a need for a longer focal length for your daily shots????

Another question regarding the kit lens.. Do you guys use the kit lens at 18mm? I'm scared to let go the kit lens, and will want to get a wide lens later, which will cost me a lot of $$$$$.. So, is the kit lens a good buy for the range I'm getting, which overlaps a lot with the 28-xx???

Default 105 lens

keep the kit lens ... least till u r ready to buy any of the other $$$ wide angle lens.

105= good enuf for daily shots anyday but not for birdie shots. birdie shots need 200 or 300mm at least. hope that helps ...
