Some features are:

1. Newly developed Leica DC VARIO-SUMMICRON lens

F2.0, 28-90 mm (equivalent to 35-mm film camera) 3.2x optical zoom

2. Equipped with 5-Megapixel CCD and VENUS Engine LSI

High-speed response and high picture quality with a 50% improved diagonal resolution comparing conventional models.

3. Full manual operations through ring/dial controllers

Manual zooming ring that can control zooming manually
Manual focusing ring that can control focusing manually
Aperture control ring that is placed at the bottom of the lens
Aperture control can be set an aperture value directly from F2.0 to F11.
Shutter speed control dial placed at the top of the camera can set a shutter speed directly from 1/2 to 1/2000 sec (1 sec to 8 sec can be set through the screen).

Hmmm . . . . . . very nice. I am beginning to see quite a few digital cameras with specs that look very appealing to me.

erm, it is a panasonic camera... usually only the lens component is "3rd party".

Some really nice high resolutionm images of the Leica version. Really wonder if the camera can live up to all the hype.

I wonder if there are any differences between the Leica and Panasonic models apart from the cosmetics.

This one sounds like the ultimate compact digicam. Wonder what the prices would be like... I daresay about $3K at the very least yah? *shudder*

Anyways, anyone with any early experience of this cam should post some results here. I'm quite curious as to how it shoots in low light conditions given the wonderful reputation of the leica glasses. Shutter lag is almost non existent according to the specs published, even shooting at fine JPEG.
