Default Mamiya 645E

Anyone has experience with the Mamiya 645E?

How much is the new price in the market now?

Is the 80mm lens comes with the camera same quality as all others Mamiya lens?

Is this a good entry camera to medium format?

Well i think the 80mm for the 645E should be the same as my 645 pro cause they use the same mount and my experience is that it's sharp !!!

Hmm if u are thinking of getting it should get the grip too makes handholding it easier...

i think cathay is selling the kit for S$1100
i handled this camera at cathay for a while and find the build quality not bad, glass seems to be very nice, the default view is horizontal, the back is non revolving so if u are shooting alot of portraits,u might find turning the camera odd.
this model uses a focal plane shutter not the common leaf shutter found in many other MF system,so flash sync is 1/60 nia..
would suggest to get a used RZ or RB67 system instead.

Thanks sljm and kex! I was actually thinking of getting the Mamiya 645E 2nd hand as saw someone offer it at S$600 only 2nd hand for a like new set (as mentioned by the seller). Don't wanna to spend too much on a medium format yet as I am not sure if I am going to love it.

Kex, there are quite a number of variation in the RB and RZ system. WHich one is better? Is the old one as good?

i'm using the RB67 Pro S series which is inherited from my dad,i believe all this manual SLR should not have too much diff in handling lor..wind film,**** shutter snap.. no nonsense camera..
the RZ series my frd have needs batteries to operate, and they only need one step to wind film and **** the shutter.
If u need more detailed info,u might wanna check out www.mamiya.com
