Hmmm 'IS' at 420mm f/2.8

wow that's a feat many telephoto lenses aint capable of.

Sure beats the C-750 any day...

my friend has a source in panasonic and they said it's supposed to be fz2 ?

i dunno.
anyway i am using a fz1. the zoom is perfect lah. quality....not sure...because i am a amateur at this.
anyway it does have serious focusing problems. when it's dark, almost impossible to focus. loads of digital noise.
1 major issue is...not hot-shoe and ever wonder how are you going to manual focus ? ( if this thing allows manual focusing)

actually i am considering either this or panasonic's dmc-fz2, HP photosmart 945 and kodak's DX 6490.

fz2/fz10 is fz1+ manual controls but w/o hotshoe.
945 ...erm..nothing to say.
kodak has a schneider lens. 10x f2.8 to 3.1.
what ya guys think ?

someone told me the leica lens used in fz1( the 1 i am using) is lousy grade. not sure.

Fantastic review!!! I've added it to my news link. Thanks!

Makes me wonder if the new FZ-10's 4megapixel will greatly enhance the quality of the images. I've seen reviews of other manufacturers releasing higher pixel digicams but using old lens design, and this affects quality due to optical incompatibilities.

FZ-10 is not FZ-2. Check the official Japan site, they lists both digicams.
http://panasonic.jp/dc/fz10/index.html

FZ-2 should be priced at S$699 to replace the to-be-discontinued FZ-1, while FZ-10 should cater for higher-end users and priced at hopefully below $1000

i think i am going to get the fz10 instead of s7000 or kodak's dx6490.
it seems to have all the features i want.
12x zoom with optional 1.5x convertor ..woot!
constant f2.8
matrix metering
hot-shoe
manual features
manual focusing ring
ED lens

the only thing i dont really like is the wide-angle
0.8x nia
still not SLR enough in terms of looks.

Yah .. me too .. think the s7000 will be too expensive and too slow compare to this one ..

one more thing i dun like is SD card instead of CF card .. and batt not standard AA size .. but but .. did I see wrongly? the batt pack is included as standard acc?

erm... don't think S7000 will be any slow. In terms of autofocus speed, it'll beat the FZ10 easily.

Hmm..
Some CA at the edges (quite visible..)
But well, what can you expect from a 12X zoom?
Was hoping that this lens would perform better (as its a leica lens!)..

Hope these were taken using a pre-production camera...

In my opinion, the Leica lens is already performing very well. Like you mentioned, what can you expect from a 12x zoom? Which other digicam can produce such quality images with such a long zoom, using Image Stabilizer some more!?

Any idea when will this FZ10 be selling in sg? How much does the extra battery cost and how long can it last?

I've just called Panasonic Singapore's marketing for digitial cameras. The lady said she never heard of this model. When I pressed her further if it'll be available in Singapore, she said "No".

That's so sad. I hope Panasonic Singapore will bring in this model for sale.

well, we cannot expect her to say yes, if she has not even heard of the model, right? probably only m$ marketing does that.

i think it will be available in sg.
