Thread: L lens for canon but what is there for Nikon?

  1. #1

Default L lens for canon but what is there for Nikon?

Are there any equivalent lens system for Nikon that are comparable to the L lens system for Canon?

Not clearly delineated as compared to Canon.

But you can probably look at the pricetag ( which is pretty telling ) and the fast lenses in general. :P There is usually an equivalent pro Nikkor lens for each L Canon.

But you should probably get what you need instead.

If I'm not mistaken..... Nikon version of Canon's L lens would be the ED series..... but best for Nikon user to give you the correct answer....

In general, the "PRO" lenses for Nikon are constant f/2.8 or faster/wider.

Their consumer lenses are normally f/3.5 or slower/smaller.

Most Nikon lenses by default as as good, or close to, the L lenses anyway. The Nikon G lenses (with the gold ring) are the extra special ones.

The ED is also widely implemented it in their DX consumer zooms. The AFS 18-55mm kit lens has ED elements too

ED is basically Extra-low Dispersion element(s) used in the lens... so its pretty much in most nikkors...

The gold ring is tricky. Used to be the high end lenses having ED are labelled the gold ring. Then ED is so commonly implemented, that now the gold ring is might denote better quality lenses.
