Default Fav lenses for Wedding..

I'm starting a new Poll after the first one was a disaster due to my inexperience and shallow knowledge...

This Poll is to Pick your Favorite Lense for Wedding.

17-55. oh geee.... i pitty the wedding couple. it's always better to be back up if you dun have the experience cause chances of you ruining the shots are very high since you've no experience.

you may have a good camera, but shots will not be good without good experience.

my 5 cents worth.

pity the wedding couple because of inexperienced photographer like me?

nvm lah...its just a poll in helping me and maybe others in deciding which lenses are better in terms of price and usefulness..

For me, I use these three lenses for weddings - 17-35, 50 and 80-200.

Sigma 10-20 on one body, Nikon 50 1.4 on the other body. 80-200 2.8 change with sigma 10-20 sometimes througout the shoot.

I voted for 50 1.4, since i can only vote for one.

I think hes referring to the poll?

And yes, i agree with your thought.. experience counts more than a good camera in photography. =)

Wow Garage, excellent choice of lenses.

I think if you have the CASH - 14-24mm f2.8, then 50mm f1.4 (recommend Sigma ones - excellent lens) and 70-200mm optional.

Your set will be as costly as some of Brides bling bling.

boss..the 14-24, are you referring to Tokina or Nikon?

the wide angles are used when you mix in with the crowds to get the atmospehere?

If I have unlimited budget, then I will get the top of the range 17-55mm and fast prime lenses with focal length 85mm, 135mm and 200mm. The entire setup costs slightly more than $10K.

If money is a concern, then I will go with the 16-85mm lens ($830 only).

I'm thinking of getting the 16-85 instead of the 18-200 VR.

hhhmm...i also like Tamron 17-50mm..

Personally, I am saving up for the following to take portraits and wedding pics:
1) 17-55mm F/2.8G;
2) 85mm F/1.4D; and
3) 135mm F/2D (this lens is getting harder to find)

That's around $5K. Anyone would like to comment on my dream set-up?

Meanwhile, I am practising hard with my relatively inexpensive but useful and versatile 16-85mm lens. This lens is known to be sharper, has more reliable VR, no creep issue and less distortion compared to the all-in-one 18-200mm lens. The 18-200mm lens has the main advantage of being a value for money and lightweight all-in-one lens. But, I think the 18-200mm is more suited to travel photography. TS, it really depends on what you want.

For price and performance, I will go for the 16-85.
