Default tiny vertical lines on A70 LCD during night shots

my friend bought a A70 also, he noticed tiny vertical white lines on the LCD screen when taking some night photos with several lightings in the background. but after the transfer the picture to his PC, picture is perfect, it is normal ??

The lines on the LCD is normal. This is one of the inherent "weakness" of the A70. But since it does not affect the picture quality, I don't think there is anything to be worried abt.

U mean there are vertical lines intersecting the points where the lights are?

The lens may be dirty/oily, causing the lines to appear. Try cleaning the lens.

got two frens who bought A70, one has the same problem as yours, just that hers is more frequent and when taking normal shots indoor will notice it. the other doesn't. Think it is some batch problem, can go to canon centre to fix.

The first person who has the problem as mentioned, now the a70 spoilt liao. Start up then lcd show black screen and the lens doesn't protrude out- it is dead. She just sent it back to canon to service and got to know that the line problem is indeed a problem, normal one wun be so.

Junyang is right. I got vertical lines but they originate from strong lighting from the background, albeit they are orange and only occur in movie recordings.

I brought it down to Canon and they have confirmed that it is ok.

yes when to Canon Showroom at Funan yesterday 6pm, confirm with the staff there, they said is normal even for other higher end model, he showed me the display sets OF A70 also got this problem , later he again convinced me by showing me the highend DSLR 300D also same problem.

He explained to me it is due the line passing into the ... can;t really remember what he said, very technical. well, however I am convinced now. Heard it also happens to other brand too.

To Matriz:
I am a newbie, correct me if I am wrong, it is the display set opposite A70, not too sure of the model, but I guess it is 300D, else it will be G???, but defintely the set is not small. The salesman told me that is a better set as compared to A70 but price also much higher. do not know why also got the same problem.

To non Canon Users:
does this happens to other brand like Minolta, Nikon, Olmpus etc, heard it happens to most model and most brand. do not know how true those salesman said.

From what i gathered in another forum (hardwarezone.com), the lines are caused because the LCD refresh rate not fast enough. Heh.. Don't worry, my A70 also like that.. Just that more obvious when battery low.. Great indicator for battery life i'd say!!

aiya canon cameras like dat one.. coz at nite the sensitivity of the LCD is turned up dat's y you get the noise. this is to provide "instant realtime" image on the LCD wherever you point the camera.. notice on sony cams the LCD at nite is nosie free but there is a lag like slow motion image when you point the camera around. Any comments?

That's probably because sony cameras got slower processing speed? Or they perhaps process more tings..
